What even is this? (answer: a blog)

Hi! I'm Arrowed. I love Web logs, or "blogs" as the kids call them today. [Ed. Note: the people using the term "blog" haven't been kids for two decades.] I grew up in the 90s, when the Internet was capitalized, wild, and untamed. "Blogrolls," or lists of other blogs the blog author liked, were common. Music was good and movies were better. People played a game by dropping metal discs onto cardboard ones. [Ed. Note: "Milk caps," really?]

But 2026 isn't 1996.

For one, I'm in my 40s, not a teenager. For another, I play tabletop roleplaying games now; then, the nerdiest I got was Magic: The Gathering (though I never did crack a Black Lotus).

So, what is this place? It's going to be a log of my TTRPG game sessions; my scattered thoughts on the craft of being a Game (Dungeon?) Master; my creative outlet; my place to have conversations with my fellow bloggers about this hobby we love.

But why?

Does the Internet really need another blogger? Probably not! But, I haven't written for fun in many years. My day job is business writing, and I realized recently I enjoy the process and want to apply that to my personal life. Here we are.

Plus, I am indebted to many bloggers for helping me understand what kind of GM i want to be, and how to do so in a sustainable, fun way. Perhaps me writing my own thoughts here is, in some small way, giving back to the community to which I owe so much.

So! Pull up a chair, grab your beverage of choice, and settle in for some old fashioned bloggin'. I'm glad you're here.
